The
Old English Sheepdog
A Judging Seminar
OESCA approved
2007 National Specialty
Winner
Introduction
This information has
been prepared by the Old English Sheepdog Club of America Judge's Education
Committee. We have attempted to promote a better understanding of
our breed through written words, illustrations, and photographs.
This on-line
seminar should not be your sole source of information about this
breed. In-ring observation under breeder judges, ring-side mentoring
with OESCA approved mentors of the breed, and hands-on examination of as
many specimens of the breed as possible are necessary to gain a fuller
appreciation of The Old English Sheepdog.
Learning about our
breed is a continuing educational experience. Material will be updated
and improved upon regularly through a committee effort.
The Judge's Education
Committee would like to express their appreciation to the AKC Judging Research
and Development Department for their assistance in this ongoing endeavor.

All of
the dogs pictured in this seminar are finished champions. Of those
pictured, many are Specialty BOB, WD, WB, BOW, BOS, or Award of
Merit winners. Additionally, there are several that currently
or in the past, have been Nationally ranked in the top five Old English
Sheepdogs. Some have been All-Breed BIS, Group winners
or placers. Quite a few have earned a Register of Merit with
the Old English Sheepdog Club of America. The pictures
encompass the last thirty years and many have yellowed with age.
Not one dog in this seminar was anything but a lovely shade of gray and
white at the time in which he or she lived and was shown.
